Parisian Chic Bathroom Reveal

The dream: when you suggest Venetian plaster-esque blush walls and your client says yes. Add in black and white marble and gold accents, and you have a bathroom that feels like it belongs in a Parisian hotel.

We kept the existing vanity, shower, and toilet but replaced just about everything else. As you can see, we used a similar floor tile but in a smaller scale and ran it the opposite direction to make the space feel larger. We also switched from a concrete to marble tile because...Paris. We also replaced the small vanity mirror with a much larger one to again, make the space feel larger and brighter.

By adding floating shelves above the toilet we were able to double the storage space which was totally necessary as we didn't have the square footage to add a linen closet. We added a multi-arm robe hook at the shower, and streamlined things with a standing toilet paper holder. You can also see how much brighter it feels by swapping the dark gray towels for white ones.

My favorite part is definitely the walls. We used Portola Paints Roman clay finish in Society (which was totally fitting for the vibe we were going for). This paint needed to be applied with trowels in multiple steps but it was totally worth it. And believe it or not, it feels like buttery suede. Oh, and as if it couldn’t get any better, it is eco-friendly, made from natural ingredients, and is virtually zero VOC. Heck yes!

We added a pothos plant to the shower to help purify the air and add some life. To add some French flair to the countertop, we added a fluted glass and brass tray and a vintage perfume bottle. We also brought in the relaxation factor with lavender on the floating shelves from the client's own herb garden.

We created a modern, European retreat in the middle of Chicago that won't have our clients' guests saying "Au Revior" anytime soon. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing... probably depends on the guests ;)
