BREE JACOBY: Reinventing the world of luxury retail
Think personal stylists are only for the rich and famous? Think again. I sat down with the founder and namesake of BREE JACOBY to learn more about their services and how they can help us as working women by taking something off of our plates - clothes shopping and styling! They also offer closet edits and custom clothing. Sounds pretty great, right? I thought so too - that's why I 'm sharing all of the juicy details with you. Pssst... be sure you read all the way to the end for a discount code for CSDS readers!
From Bree: " Let’s face it: confidence is key, and it’s impossible without a fantastic wardrobe to pair with it... When you get dressed in the morning, your outfit should be something you look forward to putting on."
Tell us about BREE JACOBY
BREE JACOBY is a luxury membership-based stylist service specializing in closet edits, personal styling, custom clothing, consulting and in-home tailoring. We provide one-on-one attention to you and your style goals. We take the stress and guesswork out of shopping, so members can feel confident for whatever life throws their way.
How did you come up with this concept/brand?
I've been in retail for almost a decade, and have always believed that a customer should have a premium experience around shopping. We really believe that the comfort of an in-home experience will make you look great and feel even better — I realized there were no companies excelling in this space. We uniquely personalize members’ experiences by digitizing their new and existing wardrobes. Ultimately, this type of experience did not exist at scale in other companies so are reinventing the world of luxury retail.
Why does the busy professional need this service?
Time is money, and we are all about saving time and spending money right. Busy professionals have limited time and too many decisions to make everyday. Our goal is to eliminate making so many decisions, and only making the best decisions.
Who is your favorite fashion designer right now?
A huge favourite at the moment is Johanna Ortiz - obsessed!
What trends do you see being popular in 2020?
Menswear is not going anywhere, it’s all about the over-sized jackets and suiting.
What is your favorite fashion staple?
Blazers! With everything.
I need to clear out/organize my closet... what is the first step?
The first step is to donate or sell anything that you haven’t worn for two years. Also, anything that doesn’t feed your soul, you should not have in your wardrobe. If it doesn’t excite you, it’s taking up real estate in your closet and needs to be given away! Just like we don’t want bullshit in our lives, we don’t want bullshit clothes either. Less is more.
Tell us about your yearly member's club
Our yearly members club is for people who don’t want to think about shopping but always want to look their best. We have three different tiers of memberships, and within that, you get a variety of services from closet edits, in-person shopping appointments, digital wardrobing from new and existing clothes, and access to your stylist to chat. Right now, we’re really excited to almost be done building our membership perks program. These will be lifestyle-driven benefits, ranging from tailoring credit to hair blowouts and more.
How does one begin to develop a "grown-up" capsule wardrobe?
Start investing in quality pieces, even if they're expensive. When you hit 30, this should be your focus. We recommend black, timeless pieces to truly elevate your wardrobe.
Do you only work with the brands shown on your website? How often do you add new brands?
We’re constantly on-boarding new brands! We are excited to announce new partnerships with YSL, Armani and Moda Operandi. The future of BREE JACOBY includes hundreds of new brands to onboard. We are proud to be both Intermix and Bloomingdales’ #1 external personal shopping company.
For more information on their membership programs, you can visit their website. You can also schedule a call with them to get some questions answered before you dive in.
