Baby, It's Cold Outside - 14 Coats That are Both Stylish and Warm
We have officially hit cold weather season in Chicago and looking fashionable while being warm isn't always easy. I want to share with you some of my favorite coats that do just that. Some are for "chilly" days and others are for downright freezing... gotta have some options, you know? Stylish and functional - enough said.
Old Navy, Relaxed Soft-Brushed Leopard-Print Coat
This one is more for the chilly days as it isn't super warm, but it definitely blocks the wind and can be paired with a great scarf and hat Plus, the subtle leopard print is so chic!
Nordstrom, Cole Haan Quilted Coat with Inner Bib
The lining of this coat is blend of down and feather fill. It has a front zip closure with snap placket and inner bib with zip closure. The length is perfect for protecting your legs from the cold.
Lolë, Nora Jacket
This puffer will get you through the coldest Chicago winters. It hits below the knee, is down-filled, water-repellent, and wind-proof. It is also available on 2 other colors.
The Northface, Women's Acropolis Parka
This down-filled gem is great for the cold but probably not the below freezing temps. It is water repellent and available in multiple colors. There is a bungee waist detail if you are feeling extra skinny (or just wearing a thinner sweater). Also has a snap-away hood.
Lolë, Katie Jacket
Another great choice for the coldest days, this coat hits just above the knees but is also water-repellent and has a stylish faux fur hood. The materials are Certified Oeko-Tex® meaning it is free from chemicals and therefore safer and more eco-friendly.
Target, Women's Quilted Puffer Jacket
This jacket hits right at the knees and has a full-length zipper and snaps. A taffeta lining ensures comfort and attached hoodie keeps your head toasty warm. Available in 2 colors.
Made of wool with a standing collar and hidden zipper closure, this coat is both chic and functional. Available in various solid colors it pairs perfectly with printed scarves and various glove and hat combos. I probably wouldn't take this one out in a blizzard though.
Eddie Bauer, Lodge Down Duffle Coat
This is your polar vortex coat, friends. It is fleece lined in the upper body, water-repellent, down-filled, and made to withstand -60 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also available in 4 neutral colors. Enough said.
Nordstrom, Lafayette 148 New York Constance Coat
Not exactly something you'd wear in a blizzard, this coat is chic and perfect for the office or an evening out. It hits right above the knees, is fully lined and rocks a classically stylish ruffle detail across the shoulder and down the front.
This puffer, also available in black, hits below the knees and is made of recycled polyester. Each coat keeps 26 plastic bottles out of the landfill. Pretty cool, right? It has a standing collar, waist-nipping belt, and two-way zipper.
This is your date night or church coat. A bit more glamorous, this wool blend coat has an oversized faux fur collar, removable belt, and comes in a delicious ivory color.
Eddie Bauer, Sun Valley Down Parka
This little gem is the younger sister of the Lodge Down coat above. A little shorter and able to withstand -30 degrees Fahrenheit, it has fleece lining in back, is available in 8 colors, is down-filled, and water-repellent.
Nordstrom, Mural Faux Fur Leopard Coat
Would this list really be complete without a faux fur leopard print coat? Don't think so. This coat is available in 2 color variations of leopard print and has a front button closure. It is definitely another glam option but also super cozy.
Everlane, The Re:Down® Sleeping Bag Puffer
Made of recycled down/feathers (recycled down comforters and pillows) and polyester (shell is made from 18 renewed plastic bottles), this coat is available in a few colors. It is water-resistant, and recommended for 10-30 degrees Fahrenheit.
